PHALIN THAKKAR
About Phalin
I am a Class 12 student at Navrachana Higher Secondary School, studying Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Chemistry and English. I prepared independently for AP Physics C: Mechanics and AP Physics C: Electricity & Magnetism and achieved a score of 5 in both.
What I’m exploring
My current work starts with concrete questions: How does a polarizer’s angle affect transmitted light? Why can adding a filter increase transmission? Can brightness readings reveal an unknown polarization direction? What changes when these ideas are used in a simple quantum communication model?
The Light, Measured collection works through those questions using derivations and reproducible simulations. Proposed physical measurements are kept separate from calculated and simulated results.
Learning through university research
Since Grade 10, I have worked with Prof. Prashant Mehta at Maharaja Sayajirao University, reading scientific literature and assisting with research that contributed to his publications. I learned mathematics beyond the school curriculum to follow that work. This is separate from my independent polarisation collection.
Research and independent investigations
Teaching alongside my studies
Alongside my studies, I help Class 12 students living in orphanages prepare for JEE physics and mathematics. The explanations shared here include diagrams, calculations, and practice questions so readers can follow each step and then try a problem themselves.
Explore Teaching & CommunityQuestions I want to take further
The next direction I want to understand is what a linear analyzer leaves out. Recovering a linear axis is useful, but a general polarisation state contains more information. I want to examine which additional measurements would reveal that information and how calibration and uncertainty would affect the result.
